Campaign
The 'Flying Rivers' Campaign invites cultural institutions across the world to be inspired by water and its vital role in tackling the climate crisis. This materializes through the use of the 'Flying Rivers' visual communication toolkit, as well as selected elements from the narrative website accompanying the final report of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water. Through the diverse material provided to 'Flying Rivers' partner institutions, the goal is for museums, foundations, and other art spaces to connect their cultural, educational, and social work with water. This may adopt different forms based on each institution's focus, programme, collections, and capacities. For instance, museums may use posters, online banners, physical and digital tags for water-related artworks in their collections or temporary exhibitions, projections, interventions in public spaces, and more.
In addition, the 'Flying Rivers' Campaign encourages and supports the Education and Outreach teams of cultural institutions to conceive workshops and other types of educational activities for different audiences, with a particular focus on educating younger generations about the true value of water and its pivotal role in fighting the climate crisis. In this context, all participating institutions are provided with an Introductory Guide and a wide range of engagement resources and learning tools addressed to different audiences. Finally, the campaign may include further initiatives that adopt more site-specific approaches, relating directly to each cultural institution’s premises and local context.
The visual communication material of the 'Flying Rivers' Campaign has been designed by Cultivate Communications, with additional contributions by Odette Dierkx.
